Home Page > Our Services & FAQ This section tells you about AJC Consultants, who we are, what we do, and about Assessors in general. You probably have a number of questions you want to ask, so we have answered a few of them here. If, after reading this information, you need to know anything else then just Contact Us. We will be happy to help. What is an Assessor? Assessors deal with insurance claims. Many people confuse Assessors with Loss Adjusters. A Loss Adjuster deals with the claim on behalf of the Insurance Company who pays them. You, the Policyholder, appoint an Assessor to deal with your claim on your behalf. An Assessor will ensure you get all that you are entitled to and make sure that your claim is not unfairly reduced. AJC Consultants are Assessors. So we act for you, not the Insurance Company. What areas do we cover? We can cover all areas within the United Kingdom. If you require assistance for an area that is outside of our coverage then we can probably recommend another organisation who should be able help you. How can we help? From the moment that you appoint us, you can leave everything to us. We feel it is vital to know that you are worry free. Circumstances that lead to making a claim, such as a fire, subsidence, a car crash, etc. can be disruptive and traumatic enough without having to spend more time arguing with your Insurance Company. We take care of all the paperwork, telephone calls, negotiation, etc. You can have as much or as little involvement in the handling of your claim as you wish. We will always keep you fully aware of the position of your claim without you having to do a thing. What claims do we deal with? We can handle claims of any nature or size, whether it be a small accident costing £500 or a large industrial fire costing several million pounds. We deal with the following types of claim:
To put it simply - if you need to make a claim, we can handle it for you. Why use AJC Consultants? We are different to other Assessors for a number of reasons. Firstly, when you contact us you will always reach an experienced Claims Assessor - not a secretary or assistant. We are there for you when you need us. Secondly, all other Assessors that we know of target mainly commercial claims, such as factories and shops. We know of no other company who equally specialise in domestic claims (home contents, buildings, etc). AJC Consultants Ltd are experts in dealing with both commercial and domestic claims. Thirdly, and most importantly, we only employ Claims Assessors who have worked as an Insurance Company Claims Handler or Loss Adjuster for an Insurance Company. In fact, you are guaranteed that the person dealing with your claim will have spent at least ten years dealing with claims for an Insurance Company and/or Loss Adjuster. This means that we know how Insurance Companies operate, how claims are reduced and turned down, what tactics they use, etc. In short, we know what to expect from the Insurance Company and are better prepared to act. How much do we charge? All Assessors work on a percentage basis and we are no different. Our usual fee is 10% of the total claim settlement. So, if we secure for you a settlement of £9,000 then our fee is £900 and you will receive the balance of £8,100. You may ask why appoint an Assessor and 'lose' 10% of the claim settlement? It is important to remember that generally claim settlements are far higher when handled by an Assessor. In the above example of £9,000 settlement, the amount paid by the Insurance Company, without using an Assessor, may well have been only £5,000. What if I've already received a settlement offer? If you have already been made an offer that you think is low, you may be worried that by appointing an Assessor you will lose 10% of the amount and not get a better settlement. We are able to work around this problem by only charging 10% of the amount we obtain for you over and above the existing settlement offer. For example, if you have been offered £5000 but believe the amount is unreasonable then you may decide to appoint us to attempt to secure a higher settlement. If we then obtain for you a settlement of £8000 then the 10% is based upon the £3000 settlement increase, rather than the full amount. In other words, in this example our fee would be 10% of £3000, leaving you with a fee of £300 and settlement balance payable to you of £7700. When should I appoint an Assessor? A mistake many people make is to start to deal with the claim themselves and only appoint an Assessor when it becomes obvious that their claim is being reduced or delayed. By this stage it can be difficult to reverse some of the damage done. It is always best to appoint an Assessor at the earliest possible stage. What should I do now? Contact Us - Remember, the sooner we can act for you, the more we can do for you. Contact us to appoint us or simply to ask anything you are not sure of. We will be happy to talk to you about your claim. All calls are strictly confidential and we will not contact your Insurance Company until you instruct us to do so. Most people who are given low settlements or have their claim turned down do nothing about it. Once we are appointed to act on your behalf, we'll make sure you receive your full entitlement. |
